Founder and Owner
Dr. David Tonkin is the founder and owner of Elite Pain Management and Recovery Centers ®. He is Board Certified in Addiction, Anesthesiology and Pain Management and has over 20 years dedicated to medicine and has specific interests in chronic pain and addiction.
Dr. Tonkin is passionate about the war on opioids and addiction and has used his wealth of information and time to develop policies, protocols and an electronic health record devoted to help navigate providers on how to treat pain responsibility. He is keenly focused on building successful pain clinics and recovery centers across the country that cater to all those in need.
Originally from Pennsylvania, Dr. Tonkin divides his time between Springfield, MO, Myrtle Beach ,SC and Las Vegas, Nevada. He is an avid traveler and a devout Hokie.
Dr. Shawn Stranckmeyer
Dr. Shawn Stranckmeyer serves as a board certified Family physician and Medical director for Elite Pain Management and Recovery Centers ®.
Dr. Stranckmeyer has been serving in leadership roles since his service with the United States Marine Corps in 2002-2006. He went on to earn a bachelor degree from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville – majoring in Medical Sciences and minoring in Business Administration and Chemistry. He earned his medical degree from University of Medicine and Health Sciences – St. Kitts in 2014 and went on to serve as chief resident during his family medicine residency in Springfield, MO with Cox Health System.
Dr. Stranckmeyer joined Elite Pain Management and Recovery Centers ® as a physician in June 2017, adding on leadership duties as Medical Director in March 2018. Dr. Stranckmeyer specializes in pain management and addiction medicine and travels between EPM clinics seeing patients and training staff on best practices. Dr. Stranckmeyer is also involved with the strategic planning and growth of the organization as they continue to grow and open more clinics around the country.
Dr. Stranckmeyer is a family guy, loves to travel and has a passion for helping people.
Vice President of Operations
Chuck Grosche is the Vice President of Operations. He has recently moved to Springfield from Atlanta GA. Chuck has been working in healthcare for 25 years working as Director of Operations in Wound Care and Physician Practice Management. He received his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Mississippi College, and master’s degree in Healthcare Administration from Tulane University.
Originally from Louisiana, Chuck enjoys watching LSU Baseball and participating in outdoor activities such as fishing and hunting. He has also completed an Iron Man 70.3 in New Orleans, and the Hot 100 bike ride in Alabama and lived to tell about it. Chuck is extremely proud of his son who is currently serving in the US Airforce and he is married to his best friend Cheryl.
Regional Director of Operations – Midwest
Born and raised here in the Midwest Justin has been in operational leadership for the past 6 years;including ER, Urgent Care, Pulmonology, Cardiovascular surgery, OB and Family Practice. In Justin’s most recent position he helped open a new urgent care center in the Springfield area and then expanded that company to 6 centers within 8 months of the first opening. Justin is able to identify process improvements and implement strategic plans to optimize growth and revenue.
Justin is a family man enjoys spending time with his children. He has a baby girl who he enjoys watching grow and develop and a son who loves outdoor sports. Justin enjoys hunting, fishing and just being outdoors.
National Director of Laboratory Services
Brad Simpson is the National Director of Laboratory Services and oversees day-to-day processing of all laboratory samples. He also ensures that all Laboratory Operations meet the stringent CLIA regulations. Simpson moved to Springfield in 2004 to help run the family business and he joined Elite Pain Management in 2016. Simpson holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Missouri State University.
Weekends, Brad enjoys playing ice-hockey with his son and daughter.
